On my canon powershot SD1200, it has a mode called "underwater" but it doesnt say its an underwater camera and I dont really want to test it out in water because if its not underwater, well yeah, itll break. What does the underwater mode mean. I was happy to learn… Yes and no. But, mostly NO. Why don't you have a look in your User Guide. . Go to the Index (it's on pages 132-134) and look up. . Underwater. It will direct you to page 54 and then you will notice what the Underwater mode is for. I recommend you read your User Guide thoroughly. . And refer to it generally if you don't know what is what, etc.

We saw a boxing day ad for this camera but my husband thinks it might just be a regular digital camera with a 'waterproof' case. Has anyone seen this camera in person? Is the camera itself waterproof? We're having a hard time finding info on it online. thanks. What I found out was – the oly stylus 550wp is a waterproof camera, not a camera inside a clear case. It is similar, but less expensive than the stylus 8000 "tough". i have this camera and like it very much. If you plan to use this in the water, I recommend you get the optional floatation strap. It will sink if you let go underwater and is only waterproof to 10 foot depth.

I'm wanting to get a waterproof camera case for my canon camera. I think I found a good case, I'm just wondering if the pictures will still look good if they are in the case. I was so glad to find this — Well it depends. If it is the Canon case, it won't be too bad. The big thing is to get your white balance right. Underwater is another realm of white balancing. Also, pay attention to the lighting. You may have less light which will force a slower shutter speed which might introduce blur or it might raise your ISO which will introduce noise.
